A stay out of season

Published 29 October 2026

For walkers, couples or friends coming in spring, autumn or winter, when it’s quieter and a Cabin may well leave you with the place to yourselves.

Walking. Iolo Williams has called the stretch of coast path here his favourite. Spend a day walking north to New Quay and a day walking south to Llangrannog, then carry on to Penbryn. Carreg-y-ty, between Penbryn and Llangrannog, is the best beach around here, if you can find it. It’s a bit of a scramble.

Seals. Grey seals have their pups on Cwmtydu beach in autumn. Please watch them from a distance and keep dogs on a lead.

Food and drink. Go inland to Da Mhile near Llandysul, a distillery making gin, whisky and brandy. Teifi Cheese is on the same site. Local breweries include Mantle and Penlon.

On a wet day. Llanerchaeron (National Trust) is near Aberaeron. There’s also the Internal Fire museum of engines, and Cardigan has a castle and independent shops.

Evenings. Light the firepit, or sit on the deck under the infra-red heaters.

“Great swim on New Year’s Day, and will definitely look to come back for a summer experience! Take warm clothes in winter!!” Gina, January 2020
