Before you arrive

Food. There’s no shop in Cwmtydu, so either bring what you need or have it delivered. Tesco in Cardigan is the most reliable for deliveries to Cwmtydu, and Morrisons in Aberystwyth also delivers. The Londis at Brynhoffnant’s great and is the nearest shop for top-ups, and does ready meals. Organic vegetables are available from Troed y Rhiw Farm near Llwyndafydd.

Getting around. A car makes it easier, but it isn’t essential. You can walk straight onto the coast path from the door, and the beach, kayaks and boards are all here. For trips further afield, Pete’s Cabs (07968 578978) runs taxis and minibuses. No bus comes down to Cwmtydu itself. The nearest regular service is the TrawsCymru T5 (Aberystwyth to Haverfordwest via New Quay and Cardigan). It runs roughly every hour during the day and stops at Brynhoffnant, Pentregat, Synod Inn, Cross Inn and New Quay. Coming by train, get off at Aberystwyth, take the T5 south, and get a taxi for the last few miles from the main road. Check times at traws.cymru or traveline.cymru before you travel.

Coming by electric car. We have a 7kW EV charger on site, so you can plug in when you arrive, and there’s £50 off your stay if you come in an electric car. Our electricity is all renewable, so the drive here can be both cheap and low carbon. Read more in our blog post, We’ve fitted an EV charger.

What to bring. Towels, warm layers and waterproofs. Even in summer the evenings on the deck can be cool, though there are heaters. Bedding is provided. [Nigel: confirm whether guests need duvet covers and pillowcases]

Noise. Cwmtydu is quiet and sound carries up the valley, so we ask for quiet at Ty Cwch from 10pm. If you want a late night, the beach is the place for it.
